The current state of my project is that the actual website I am working on has little changed. It has two new pages added and the menu and header have been changed as well. Though technically speaking nothing has changed on the actual site, as I am making my changes on a staging site that can later be synced with the actual site. On the staging site though, the two pages that have been added are both to hold embedded Timeline JS timelines. Unfortunately, I believe because I am waiting on a student researcher to decide what dates to use for both timelines, neither are actually working. Also, the researcher, my project lead of Professor Purcell, and myself decided that something other than a timeline actually fits what we are trying to accomplish with one of the pages more, and one of my next steps will be figuring out what that should be and how it should work. One interesting obstacle that we have run into is that because digital Grinnell is migrating platforms, almost all of the media that had been planned to be used for the site is no longer available, and the way that we are currently dealing with this is by getting backups of the pictures sent from another student researcher currently studying abroad in Spain. After I have the media and the dates, another one of my next steps will be to finally complete the timeline(s), as I can’t currently do that. Something I have been thinking a lot about is how the website should look aesthetically, particularly in terms of colors. That is not something I believe myself to be particularly good at yet, and so I am not sure what the best way to proceed on it is, whether I should try to learn website color design with guides or whether I should just tinker with colors until it seems at least good enough. I know that the questions I have will continue to take shape as the project as a whole comes together, but I feel like I am finally at a place where I understand in at least a broad sense what the project should eventually look like.
